What started as a gloomy, rain-bound day turned out to be picture-perfect weather for us to Race for Kids, and raise support for Boys and Girls Club’s after school programs.

Returning to participate in this awesome event for our second consecutive year, we aimed to surpass our 3rd place finish from 2013. This year though, our fellow corporate challengers brought their A-game. The six events posed a fun challenge to our team, but one wrong turn cost us a top placement in the standings. Even though Radii placed 8th overall, we were honoured to win the Good Life Fitness award for “The Most Use of Twitter and Social Media” during the event!

Congratulations again to Capital One Canada, easyhome and President’s Choice Children’s Charity for coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Here’s the list of teams and finishing times:

In all, we were excited to see an even larger turn out this year, and were happy to have taken part in this year's Race for Kids Corporate Challenge alongside a list of such great corporations that support BGCC’s programs. Next year's goal: #1! Go Radii!

The Radii Team is all laced up and ready to dominate this year's Capital One Race for Kids (Corporate Challenge). Joining the ranks of corporate teams such as Kraft, Microsoft, Staples and Maple Lodge, we are ready to win it all in Toronto!

The Capital One Race for Kids is a national fundraiser that uses an urban adventure race as its core challenge. From Charlottetown to Kelowna, this event is being held at 25 communities across the country. All proceeds raised go towards supporting the local after school programs and services provided by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. In teams of 4, contestants immerse themselves in a race that focuses the mind and challenges the body. We love being a part of this event because for us, it is not only a welcome return to our childhood and the carefree days of being a kid, but the adventure also provides us with a great opportunity for team bonding—all in the name of raising funds for a great cause!

Last year we placed 3rd. This year, we plan to only accept the top spot! You can read about how we placed 3rd last year here.

We asked our team representatives how they will rise above the competition this year. Here's what they said:

"I'll help the team to first place by navigating the course with my internal GPS."
- Tom Fung

"I plan to keep everyone fed and hydrated, so they can do the heavy lifting!"
- Honrio Cham

"This year, it is motivation all the way. I need to push the guys so that they don't second guess themselves. You can say that I plan to be the team cheerleader."
- Danielle Pronio

"Not having done one of these races before, I will follow the lead of more experienced team members. But having ran a couple of marathons and a bunch of half-marathon, hopefully I won't slow the team down. My advice, two words: cardio."
- Alex Ng

On May 30th, we put down our coffees, laced up our sneakers, and went downtown to compete in the 2nd annual Capital One Race for Kids!

The race was a complete blast--and we came in third! Danielle let the group, with David Yoshida, David To and Honrio right behind.

The Capital One Race for Kids is a one-of-a-kind scavenger-style race for corporate teams to adventure throughout the course in downtown Toronto. In support of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, the race featured several challenges, plus food, drinks, and entertainment following the race.

So go Team Radii! We'll have to stay in shape for next year's event!

We spend a lot of time behind a computer screen, so every now and then it's nice to let loose, go outside and see the sun, then channel bug-fix-frustrations by hurling bowling balls at unsuspecting pins. Last week we did just that. (And in case you're wondering, yes, the above panoramic was taken with the new iPhone 5).

We played a few friendly games in two teams, with each team winning once. Lunch rolled around and, as none of us had scores that would suggest we would be more apt at a professional bowling career, we adjourned to Cafe Shiso for Japanese-Italian cuisine. Check out our photos below to see us in action.
